About the Mastodon integration

Add the Mastodon piece to a flow, connect your account once, and the rest of the builder can read from it and write to it. Because the piece is open source you can run it on our cloud or self-host it, and combine Mastodon with 760+ other apps in the same flow.

Triggers

Start a flow the moment something happens in Mastodon

Each trigger below can start a flow on its own, either instantly or on a schedule.

  • New Mention

Triggers when someone mentions your account in a post, including replies and direct messages. On mastodon.social and other servers running Mastodon 4.3 or later, direct messages and mentions from accounts you do not follow may be held back by your notification filters (Preferences > Notifications) and will not trigger the flow until you accept them.

  • New Follower

Triggers when someone starts following your account. If your account requires follow approval, people appear here only after you accept their request.

  • New Status from Account

Triggers when a specific account publishes a new post. For accounts on other servers, only posts that reach your server are seen, so following the account makes this reliable.

    3 fields

  • New Status with Hashtag

Triggers when a new public post uses a hashtag. Posts from other servers are included once they reach your server.

Use Mastodon in a flow

Connect Mastodon once and every trigger and action above is yours to drop into the builder, alongside 760+ other apps. Free to start, on our cloud or your own servers.

Mastodon, answered.

Yes. Activepieces is open source and free to start, and the Mastodon piece is included on every plan, from the free cloud tier to any self-hosted deployment.

Add the Mastodon piece to a flow, then authenticate with Custom auth. Once connected, its 4 triggers and 14 actions are available anywhere in the builder.

"New Mention" can start a flow that runs "Post Status", and you can chain Mastodon together with any of 760+ other apps and AI steps in between.

Yes. Activepieces is fully self-hostable, so you can run the Mastodon piece on your own infrastructure with your connections and your data staying in your environment.

Yes. Every piece you connect can be exposed over one Activepieces MCP server, so Claude, Cursor, Windsurf or any MCP client can call Mastodon actions as tools.
